If you were able to chose between being a governor or a senator, what would you like to be?

I would easily prefer to be a governor. Probably one of the most interesting offices. As chief-executive you can accomplish much more than being a part of a long and slow legislative process. You are the main guy as governor and you have more power to make decisions.

Senator for sure, I'd rather be able to make and tinker with bills than have to decide whether to sign somebody else's products

If I "loved being in politics" or whatever?  Governor, easily.

However, I'd much rather be a lazy Senator who didn't read all of the bills and partied.

This, though as a Senator you'd be expected to spend a ton of time fundraising on the phones lest party leadership get angry at you because you can't pay your dues.  So it might not be that relaxing, unfortunately. Sad

So for me, I'd pick governor whether I were interested in the job or not.

Senator because it's easier (especially if I'm D-MA) but I think I'd feel better about myself if I was a governor.

It depends on what your definition of politics. If you love retail campaigning, you'd probably rather be governor, but if you love playing the game, there's no better job in the world than US Senator.

I mean, it's all moot, I'd hate any political job, haha.

If I were to be Majority Leader, easily Senator.

If not, Governor, since I don't fancy being bullied by the Majority (or Minority ftm) Leader, always being on the phone, reading a bunch of bills I don't necessarily care about before "sponsoring" and being stuck in Washington all the time.

As a Senator, I am more likely to have paid junkets to foreign countries and easy access to sensitive information to afford myself the satisfaction associated with feelings of status. As a Governor, I would be tasked with the unglamorous duties of public administration. Being a corrupt, big city mayor seems far more likely to grant me the personality cult I would desire were I forced to take an executive position.

I've said governor before, and if I was from another state, that'd be the case, but in Illinois, I'd prefer my one term as senator before Chicago votes me out for being conservative, because being governor of this f-ed up state would suck.

I am beginning to dislike politics, however, and I'm very happy to work in the private sector.

I'm of the opposite opinion. Local politics is fascinating. Governor for me.

(Thirty years ago being a Senator would have probably been more interesting)

For California, I'd rather be Governor. I want to spend most of my time in the greatest state in the union and I actually want to get things done.
