umm, if Kushner goes, so does Trump. Kushner cannot be fired and if he goes to jail, he is getting a pardon, which is a mortal threat to the Trump presidency. To take down Kushner is to take down Trump, which is not true of any other Trump orbiter except Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Donald Jr..

WaPo editor suggests NYT-"Syria-backchannel"-claim was spread by Kushner Allies

Syria update:
AP source: Kushner back channel with Russia involved Syria
https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2017/05/27/us/politics/ap-us-trump-russia-probe-the-latest.html

-->

Slate journo defends hypothetical sharing of Kushner spin.

Scott Wilson, national editor of the WaPo, reacts through criticizing sharing it without identifying the agenda:

Wait, how do we known it's Kushner's account? The sourcing is "people familiar with the meeting." White House? Intel? Kushner lawyer?
https://twitter.com/PostScottWilson/status/868515339851759618

Why not ID them as such? Why "people" not allow them to be ID's as such? Harder to track lies back that way, especially if people in WH.

We talked to these "people" too. We would not publish their account unless we could signal they were speaking for Kushner. They refused.

This is the point. By not ID'ing in whose water these "people" are carrying, @nyt allowing readers to think they are disinterested parties.

This claim from a Post editor is big: NYT sources who said back-channel was about Syria were Kushner affiliates/toadies

It reminds me of 'Golden shower' thing.

CNN made a story that looked really serious.

Then Buzzfeed leaked the 'allegations'. Suddenly, it was quite a different story. Technically, CNN:s article is totally correct. They have even mentioned that allegations are 'not yet confirmed'.

But... But the perception was changed (thanks to Buzzfeed). Suddenly, it felt way different. At least I thinks so Tongue

AP however ran with the NYT version no? Although this is the first Post versus NYT fight and I dont know who AP's sources were. If the Post is right then that throws the Syrian explanation into question.

FWIW, this is the same meting where the ambassador put Kushner in contact with Gorkov. So the Post may have the right angle.

I originally believed the NYT version but right now I dont know exactly what to believe yet.

btw....the anonymous letter which was the start point for investigating about this topic was sent almost immediately after the meeting and seemed to have come from the transition team.

This is increasingly sounding like Bannon or Priebus, or maybe both, are trying to undermine and spread rumors about Jared Kushner.
