Who would you prefer as president?

I would easily prefer the Gipper. I don't agree with him on almost everything, but at least he knew how the behave as president and was somewhat competetent.

Trump's more honest about not giving a flying finger.

No justifications regarding dismissing things like The Fairness Doctrine, he just says eff the media, done!

2018 is more likely to be D than 1982 turned out.

Also, no delusions about "making the world safe for Democracy against teh Communists" either. If you're not going to try like Carter or Obama, no point in the pretenses.

Trump is truly the gift that keeps giving atm, even if what returns is pretty awful.

Trump, for sure. At least he doesn't get much done, Reagan and friends would have a field day with this Congress.

Reagan would definitely have more potential for danger. He'd be signing dangerous bills left and right with this congress that Trump has not capitalized on that much yet.

It's difficult to think of a single reason literally anyone would prefer Trump over Reagan.

For funsies, and because I'm procrastinating, here's a map of Reagan '80 vs. Trump '16, on 1990s numbers for average (Reagan 395-143; the CD numbers are estimates but pretty certain ones; Reagan is way ahead of Trump across most of eastern Nebraska, especially the populous counties, but he's behind him in the west; Maine has a stark divide where the coast has gotten much more Democratic over time while the interior is much stronger for Trump than it was for Reagan):

Because he was even more corrupt than the incumbent president.

Reagan's rhetoric is vastly preferable, but Trump has been more effectual than Reagan in a positive direction, which really says a lot more about Reagan than about Trump.

How do?

And Reagan every day and twice on Sunday for this Republican!

Donald Trump - not Newt Gingrich, not Ted Cruz, not Mitt Romney, not any of the Bushes, nor anyone else -  is the true heir to Ronald Reagan. And considering the political context of the present time, that should truly frighten all of us all the more.

Reagan both personally and (mostly) politically, but he had some major flops with his Supreme Court picks, so if Trump ends up getting all good pro-life picks, then it's a tougher call.

Of course, Ted Cruz is the best of both worlds and would easily surpass them both.

LMAO the true heir was George W Bush before he messed things up by disbanding the Iraqi army .

In fact if you asked me in November of 2003 I would have said Bush was the best president in the post world war 2 era . It wasn't until April of 2004 when things started to fall apart .
