I was just about to post this.  He also threw one of 23 people to ever throw a perfect game in the MLB.

I'm imagining Jim Bunning just picking Sandy Koufax up off the ground and chucking him at the umpire.

He was a good Senator, and I'm grateful that he helped make Rand Paul possible when they tried to force him out. RIP, FF (and Greg Allman too Sad)

Ace starting pitcher of what may have been the best baseball team ever (the 1961 Detroit Tigers) to have been shut out of post-season play. Also what may have been the least able US Senator at the end of his second term.
