Seemed great at the time, and I have some personal nostalgia for them, but it's hard to honestly deny that they were a ticking time bomb socially, politically, and economically speaking. Horrible Decade.

Wasted years. The United States should have had a real "peace dividend" of social improvements after the Soviets evaporated, and the West could have drifted at least somewhat in a more peaceful direction in world affairs. Instead neoliberalism was accelerated beyond control.

I'll keep it lighter than our previous two posters and reflect more on things like my personal life, what TV shows were on, my school experience, etc.: Freedom Decade.

I was born in 2001, so I didn't experience it firsthand. Horrible Politics, Freedom Everything Else, from the look of it.

Were mostly of good times, but the economic conditions which allowed continued outsourcing of jobs, put the country in peril and allowed deregulation at the end of the decade and cause the 2002 and 2008 collapse.

Not unambiguously a Freedom Decade, considering most of my family was living in Russia at the time, but in the West, probably the best decade in terms of both culture and politics yet recorded. Much like the 1790s were a peek into the future of the 19th century, very likely a peek into the future of the 21st century.

The peak of American influence and power, and the peak of the influence of political and economic liberalism, extending the decade to the mid-2000s. It may be looked at as a sort of Belle Epoque in 50 years.

Great economically, a lot of mistakes on an international level, the last period of relative peace and sustained growth without overwhelming political rancor, although it did exist, and Clinton's scandals didn't help. Also, N64, boom boxes, etc.

I graduated HS in 91, so I have a strong favorable bias (or nonsensical hatred) to most things from the decade.  Even Zima Wink (not really).  I do especially enjoy the cars, the comedians and the music...oh and the fashion I guess.  I still dress the same.
