The only acceptable portrayal of Jesus losing his virginity is in The Last Temptation of Christ, notably because of the theological context and that it didn't actually happen.
That was a great and spiritually uplifting movie. It's fundamental premise: Jesus was the Son of God made man who endured crucifixion to save the souls of humanity. The protesters back in the late 80's could never see beyond the one scene or its context.
Our local contingent of Moral Majority types picketed the showing on our campus handing out pamphlets accusing the financing coming from "Jewish money". These were not neo-Nazis, but just shows how prevalent and acceptable anti-semitism was in the religious right prior to the "Israel is needed for the end days" argument that fused fundamentalist Christians and Jews together.
I have to give props to the one youngish (early 30's) relatively reasonable guy (didn't like the anti-Jewish lit either) came in to watch the movie so he could judge and discuss it intelligently afterwards.
