Let's imagine Leadsom defeated May in the Conservative leadership election but also calls a snap election. How would the polls look?

I wouldn't be surprised if Labour actually would be leading the Tories in terms of votes. Leadsom was really, really terrible in the run-off.

Snap elections are only called if the PM thinks that their party will win it.

But I would point out that May's problems during the campaign were in large part due to her cold personality. Leadsom is quite nutty and gaffe-prone but she is fairly 'warm' (some have compared her to Sarah Palin) and so she probably wouldn't have imploded during a general election campaign in the way that May did.
