I'm just going to go out on a limb and say one of the two major parties will no longer exist.
Obviously what the 2016 election will look like is this
. It might be 60 years off, but the trends are clear. As long as we don't nominate another egghead, we should keep the south and win the west. The Northeast will stay republican, clearly. This is a slight republican victory now, but as people move we will be able to win with this.
What's with the North having all those electoral votes?

^ Seems to be the 1956 electoral map. Didn't understand the question, from the look of it.

That makes sense. I was wondering why Alaska and Hawaii were blank.

It's especially funny that he is mentions about not nominating another egghead and keeping the south, which makes it seem like he is a time traveller from 1956.

Yeah. I used the 1956 results and trends to make the same sort of projections as people here are making about 2016. That it's so ridiculously wrong shows how these projections will be laughable too in 60 years.

White rural and uneducated voters turn against the Democratic Party en masse, effectively securing the Plains and the far Northeast. The Midwest leans Republican, while the Southeast and Southwest shift left as demographics change.

I don't think the electoral college will be gone in 70 years. People may complain about it, but I think in the end nobody really cares enough to get rid of it entirely. I think it is more realistic that all the states pick up a split system like Nebraska and Maine though
