May would probably be able to carry on with this result. With the Fixed Term Parliaments Act, only a no-confidence vote in the government and no new government getting a confidence vote within 14 days, or a 2/3 vote like we just had would trigger a new election.

so..... Cons+UUP+DUP government or a 'progressive alliance' of everybody with Sinn Fein taking seats to block the conservatives.

Exit polls means CON/DUP/UUP is short of a majority.

If this is accurate, this means a big Labour rebound in Scotland, correct?

Yes, Labour up 34 and SNP down 22. Probably some swings from SNP to LibDem as well

I don't HATE SNP, but wow I could really get behind this! Especially the Lib Dem swings!

Senior Conservatives apparently not believing the exit poll at all...

Politicians never believe exit polls when they show results they don't like. Let's just hope for their sake that none of them promise to eat their hats on live television this time around.

Remember Sinn Fein don't take their seats... Unless they change that policy.

It's a shame that May is out; I liked her and was hoping for a Tory Government.

But it would exceed the other side.

But perhaps not if Sinn Fein doesn't count. As I said, every seat would matter with this result.

May is a technocrat, like Hillary Clinton. Good politician, but not charismatic.

Seems suspicious that the exit poll has a virtual 50-50 tie of Tories/Unionists vs everybody else. (Good for ratings).

Exit polls means CON/DUP/UUP is short of a majority.

Bad position for the Lib Dems to find themselves in, yet again, as they're the only party that could realistically work with either side (well, maybe the DUP could work with Labour in a vacuum but not if the SDLP are also involved, and Corbyn is personally toxic to the DUP). I think they refuse to support the Conservatives over Brexit and there's another election this winter, but hard to know for certain.

We'll see what the actual results are, though. As pointed out, last time the exits also forecast a hung parliament.

I get the feeling Labour is being underestimated here.
