It's awfully strange that the pacifist socialist was able to win back UKIP voters.

Populism?

Just the fact that many voters in England have felt abandoned by both "New Labour", as well as the Tories, and came back home to a "Proper" Progressive Labour Party Candidate for the first time in almost 30 years....

UKIP was a phenomenon caused by the collapse of a true Progressive (Left) version of the Labour Party starting with Tony Blair (3rd Way strategy a la Bill Clinton).

Where do voters go where they feel abandoned by the largest political parties in their country???

They go extreme--- thank goodness a Left-Wing Labour candidate was able to bring the vast majority of  traditional Labour voter back home.

If there is a second election in the autumn, who is favored to win? Well, of course, as we see, everything can change, but who starts out with a better shot to win a majority?

Probably Labour. The Tories would be coming in as a divided party that just blew an election, whereas Labour will most likely be unified behind Corbyn.

Now at:

Conservative 298
Labour 255
SNP 34
LD 12
DUP 10
SF 7
Plaid Cymru 3
IND 1

Assuming SF doesn't take their seats, the Conservative+DUP coalition is 14 seats away from the 322 needed for a majority.

BBC Forecast seats: CON 316, LAB 265, SNP 34, LD 13, OTH 22

In this forecast, CON+DUP is the bare minimum of 326 for a majority (of course assuming SF broke traditional and were seated).

Is Yvette Cooper a "right wing" Labourite?

Her campaign was very Hillary Clinton in the first leadership race.
