Lack of homeownership wouldn't be a major problem if rent was affordable. And pro-homeownership policies tend to drive up rents...

well it seemed to work for them in 2015...

I think the anti-Nat marketing was subtly different in 2015 than the anti-Cat marketing of PP, mainly because The Union isn't really treated as that big a deal south of the border as it is in Scotland (and that Spanish unity is for PP's cadres). The common perception amongst small c conservative voters is more of a fear that a minority government propped up by the SNP would be a cooked deal that gives Scotland free stuff at the cost of English taxpayers.

If people think DUP is better than SNP then they have mental issues & need to get their head examined instead of typing in. A semi-Christian Taliban with actual links to extremists, who are anti-science, creationists, anti-abortion, notoriously anti-gay & I could go on.

SNP believes in an indepenent Scotland via a democrastic process but have progressive policies vs a more gentle & subdued Christian Taliban - Really???

Most mainland Brits view Northern Ireland as completely peripheral so they don't care.

Wouldn't the weird peripheral party suddenly having a major say in the affairs of the nation make them care?

1. Jeremy Corbyn has called for luxury properties in Kensington that are owned but left empty to be requisitioned and provided as accommodation for Grenfell Tower residents who have been made homeless by the fire. Would you support or oppose such a move?

Strongly support 33%, Tend to support 26% (59%)
Tend to oppose 15%, Strongly oppose 13% (28%)
Don't know 13%

Jeremy Corbyn has overtaken Theresa May for the first time in a poll asking who would make the best prime minister. The YouGov survey for The Times found that 35 per cent of respondents thought the Labour leader would make the country's best leader. Ms May was a point behind on 34 per cent, while 30 per cent said they were unsure.

That did not vote number is horrific... People should be proud to be able to have the right to be involved in the democratic process.

FWIW with the DUP they're just playing their hand, and whilst they will most likely kick the government in the balls on certain votes (most likely welfare related) they will not vote to kill the government, and allow a General Election, and then let Corbyn potentially win.

It just means we're going to have a very unproductive, and rather rebellious parliament

More critically they won't want to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. For the true ideology of the DUP is that of all Irish parties with mass support: Gombeenism.

Minor inconsistencies wrt rounding etc quite likely, but who care. In all cases you see a bigger map with the Power of right click.

So apparently the Lib Dems only really do well in rural central Wales, northern Scotland and southern England?

Define 'well' - e.g. those are historically low percentages in Mid Wales and they failed to win a seat there for the first time ever.

Fun fact: back in 2010 the LibDems actually polled the most votes in Bristol. This year they polled just 4.8% in the city.

"Oh Jeremy Corbyn" chants at Glastonbury, live on BBC.  This is brilliant!

Lots of "Tories ran worst campaign ever, yet Labour still lost!!!" type of comments still going around. The point being missed is that the reason why the Tory campaign is seen as the worst is due to the result. The 2015 Tory campaign received heavy criticism...until the results came in, at which point it became highly praised.

Such takes miss out the key fact which is that an average polling lead of over 20pts at the start of the campaign turned into a final PV lead of 2.5pts...

Did you mean *Tory*, or *Labour*?  Because it sounds like you meant "Labour".  (Or course, the argument could go either way, except that I don't recall any significant high praise for the Tory outcome.   Unless you're speaking of Ruth Davidson rather than Theresa May, of course.)

He said 2015, not 2017.

Labour five points ahead and Jeremy Corbyn much more popular than Theresa May in new poll

Labour is five points ahead of the Tories at 46 per cent, found the Sunday Times. The survey, which took a random sample of 5,000 people, also found that Ms May’s approval rating is at minus 17, a mirror opposite to Mr Corbyn’s plus 17.
