I never cared what Bruce Jenner ever said and couldn't care less what Caitlyn Jenner says.  Kthxbye.
Yet you cared enough to post that.

Just offering my opinion, TG.  The thread, I assume, was to garner opinions on her upcoming speech.

Who cares if someone still says Bruce Jenner, which is the birth name of Caitlyn Jenner? People call Obama "Barry", Mitt Romney as "Mittens" or "Willard", Bobby Jindal as "Piyush", Ted Cruz as "Rafael" or "Lyin' Ted", etc. all the time. Plus, Bruce Jenner was actually culturally relevant. Personally, I would say Caitlyn because people are free to change their names to whatever they want and Bruce Jenner was an asshole, but who really gives a damn? This is the kind of hyper-sensitive BS that turns real people off from Democrat politics.

(I'm not saying a first name or using pronouns because I don't want to have my post deleted or go against what I believe in)- but this is completely ridiculous!

WTF? Really Caitlyn? Because.....?

@ Virginia: Because he wanted to be edgy and attention whore

EDIT: Well, if it helps to change a few minds, great. Also a good sign from the CR they want to change and catch up to the 21st century.

Mind you, this won't change the mind of anyone entering power for the next 20-30 years. The comments on the linked FB page were..."mixed"....and many of them.....oh my.

Several of those comments are from friends of mine, so be careful what you say!

Yeah, well your friends are a pack of raging douchebags.

Because he either believes that transgenderism is some fairy tale that a few celebrities made up for fun and managed to get the rest of society to believe in, or that it's a mental illness and should be treated as such. (Never been 100% clear either way)

Yeah, but I'd like to hear it from him. Let's see if he has the courage of his convictions.

Poor ExtremeRep, even transgender people don't obsess about transgender issues as much as you! I suggest talking to a therapist.

Perhaps he already spoke to someone who was both an analyst and therapist.

The College Republicans can invite whoever they want, of course, and Caitlyn Jenner may offer a unique perspective other GOPers wouldn't. That said, she's an HP for being one of the attention-seeking publicity jackals in the Kardashian-Jenner empire, and for that she deserves zero attention

I don't know why they'd think this is a good idea. Both sides (in general) have a pretty negative view of Caitlyn Jenner, with most of the GOP not liking her for being trans and most liberals disliking her for being conservative. She's a pretty awful representation for the trans community by the way, but that's more of a side issue here.

But the conservatives who don't have a problem with trans-persons, especially when she's a fellow conservative...

Apparently (?) a goodly number in the CR.

It's a good sign. I don't particularly care for her, but that aside conservatives should embrace fellow conservatives without respect to demographic factors.

I believe a mix of those two points of view.  There are some biological men who think they are women (or the reverse), which I do believe is a mental disorder and should be treated as such.  However, I think there are also some just looking for attention or attempting to be edgy.  Plus, if we view it as a real thing, parents are going to say "it's OK, you are really a woman" to a six-year old boy going through a phase of wanting to wear dresses or play with dolls, which will make the child think he is a girl at an impressionable time of life.
