The Senator's Chevrolet Suburban following the crash

6:17 PM EST -

This just in, Senator Hillary Clinton has been injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer truck on Interstate 87, just north of Yonkers. The Senator was traveling back to her home in Chappaqua when the truck plowed into her escort, killing two police officers, injuring one, and injuring Senator Clinton. The New York State Police has ruled this an attack and is currently investigating the crime.

-
6:45 PM EST -

It has now been reported that the Senator's right thigh was badly damaged in the accident and has been unconscious since she was pulled from the wreck. The state police are continuing their investigation of the crime, instating various check points on all highways and interstates for all trucks traveling in the State of New York.

Senator Clinton has been widely expected to run for President in the upcoming presidential election, however we have little information as to how the Senator's health is at the moment. All that is known is that she is unconscious and is reported to be in "critical condition."

7:30 PM EST -
Governor Spitzer announces $100,000 reward for attacker's arrest
Just five days into his first term as Governor, Spitzer has been faced with a grim attack on his state's junior Senator. In response to the attack, Governor Spitzer announced that there will be a $100,000 reward for information about the attacker that will lead to his arrest.

"It is our duty as New Yorkers, as Americans, to find the person who committed this heinous crime. If anyone has seen anything suspicious, contact your local police immediately and report what you saw," stated the Governor.

The New York State Police released that the vehicle used was a white 1996 Mack CH613 semi truck. The plate cannot be identify, however the state police believe its plates are from New York.

Police Raid House in Montour Hills

New York State Police officers see raiding the house

The New York State Police raided a house in Montour Hills, New York, after numerous reports of suspicious activity came from the area and that a truck matching the police's description was parked in front. The raid was launched at around 5:30 AM EST, however no one was found inside the house.

The police reported that bomb making materials and destroyed PCs were found inside and they will continue the hunt for the attacker.

President Bush issues statement on attack

President George W. Bush issued his statement on the attack at 9:00 this morning. The president said the following:

"Me and Laura are deeply disturbed by this cowardly attack on the former First Lady and current Senator from New York. I spoke with former President Bill Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea, to offer my dearest sympathies for their family. I also spoke with Governor Spitzer and offered all the resources he may need to hunt down this terrorist. I am certain the New York State Police and the Department of Homeland Security will find him in no time.

Business Mogul Donald Trump responds to the attack
Famed real estate tycoon Donald J. Trump, a friend and staunch supporter of Senator Hillary Clinton, spoke with CNN on the attack that left the Senator unconscious and in critical condition.

"Look, this guy is a big loser and a total moron. I mean, who the hell does something this horrible to such a terrific person? A very sick person; I'm sure of that. I've known Hillary and her husband for a very long time and they're such great people, I cannot imagine the pain Bill and his daughter are going through right now."

CNN's Wolf Blitzer pressed Trump on his support of Hillary Clinton in her 2006 Senate reelection bid and her potential candidacy for the upcoming presidential election, which may no longer be a possibility due to her current health status.

"I don't wanna get involved in endorsements and such, Wolf, but I sure hope Hillary recovers well because I think she'd make a terrific president. Certainly much better than what we have now."

Blitzer went on to mention numerous "draft Trump" campaigns that polled him well, and wanted the businessman's take on them.

"I'm really not sure if I'm ready to run for president. I have a tendency to be 'too honest' at times, so I am really flattered by these campaigns, but I'm really not sure if I want to run for the presidency at this time. I think I'd be a great president, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to run yet. I definitely couldn't bring myself to run against Hillary, if she's able to run."

Senator Clinton's condition remains critical; no sign of attacker

Almost 5 days after the attack on the Senator, she remains in critical condition as it has been reported that Senator Clinton will need a liver transplant and remains in a coma. Doctors remain hopeful that she will survive, however there has been no sign of improvement.

The manhunt for the attacker has now expanded as far as the Mississippi River as reports have come from as as far as Illinois and Louisiana.

Democratic field remains open as Clinton is still in coma
Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards

The Democratic field for President has remained wide open since mid-January as many are concerned for Senator Clinton's health. In the most recent polls, former North Carolina Senator and 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards has been the front-runner without Senator Hillary Clinton running, however he does not maintain a majority in polls.

Other candidates that have polled well include Delaware Senator Joe Biden, Illinois Senator Barack Obama (has not declared candidacy), Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold (has not declared candidacy), former Governor of Vermont Howard Dean (has not declared candidacy), and even former Vice President Al Gore (has not declared candidacy).

However, the support "Draft Trump" movements has grown significantly among both Democrats and Republicans. Trump, who is officially registered as a Democrat, ran for the Reform Party nomination in 2000, however has not sought the presidency since then.

Senator Obama declines to run

Senator Barack Obama seen in 2006

Senator Barack Obama, widely seen as a formidable candidate to face Senator Hillary Clinton, has declined to run for president in 2008.

"Personally, I feel this is not my time to seek the presidency. I'd prefer not to uproot my family to start an expensive and stressful journey to the White House. Along with this, I am very concerned about Senator Clinton's health and we should wait and see how well she will recover."

Senator Obama also stated that he will be willing to aide any of the Democratic candidates in any way possible to guarantee a Democratic victory in the upcoming election.

Trump alludes to potential presidential run

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump was featured in another interview regarding Senator Clinton's health and his take on the growing Democratic and Republican fields. Later in the interview, Wolf Blitzer asked a question that many Americans are wondering.

"If Senator Clinton does not run, do you think you will run in her place?" Blitzer asked.

"Maybe, maybe," said Trump, "You know I never really thought about it much until this happened to her, and more and more people have asked me to run for President. But now I'm kinda forced to think about it."

Trump also mentioned that if he ran, he may have to face political allies in the general election, such as Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Trump, who is held favorably in polls by both Democrats and Republicans, could be a remedy for those who are tired of typical politicians and partisan battles in Washington. However, many of his drawbacks include his bombastic personality and feuds with politicians within his own state.

BREAKING
CLINTON WAKES FROM COMA
This just in, we have just learned that Senator Hillary Clinton, who has been in a coma since January, has just woken from it. We have not had any official information from the Clintons aside from that, however we can assume that it will take weeks, even months, for her to fully recover from the incident.
