I was wondering what kind of musical abilities we have here. Singing, playing an instrument, etc.

For me, I've had a few years of training on the piano and percussion (auxiliary and mallet). In school a few years back, I was in a music class where we learned the fundamentals of the guitar, but I've very much neglected that since.

As for singing, I've been told that I'm alright at it, but I haven't really done anything with it. I have a keyboard and sometimes I'll work on informal arrangements of songs for my own amusement, but I never go beyond that.

Guitar, bass, vocals. Mostly of the rock variety.

I'm still learning my keyboard piano because all the music I've made has been experimental so far, so my musical talents are still pretty limited.

I don't sing, but I might recite a poem I wrote recently in an upcoming track.

In fourth grade, I playes the cello and absolutely hated it, and quit after a year. I was apparently pretty naturally talented, because my music teacher tried really hard to get me to stay, even offering me the choice to switch instruments, something that generally was not allowed, but I had no interest.

I'm not allowed to sing as per the Geneva Convention.

I sing all the time, but I suck at it.  I own a guitar, but can't play it.  I'd like to be able to play it and the bass, but I'm lazy.

Played the violin for a really long time. I am an okay singer, but not enough to call myself a singer Tongue

One day I would love to learn how to play the banjo.

I can play the guitar reasonably well, but not well enough that I feel comfortable "performing," unless it's just strumming chords while someone else sings.

You play percussion? My favorite story about percussions, specifically drums, is the sign of a music store I saw that read: "WE SELL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND DRUMS"

I've played in the pit orchestra for my high school's spring musical for all four years. This past year, I started out doing catch-all percussion (xylophone, tambourine, bongos, congas, etc.), but a few weeks into rehearsal I was moved to a piano part because our keyboard player had to quit.

I really liked the percussion part, and the person who replaced me there was really good, but part of me viewed the move as a promotion.

I'd say my musical ability is in the singing department.  Back in the day, I sang in my high school's concert choir, and in a group called the Fairfield County Children's Choir as well.  And I've been known to sing kareoke, too.  Smiley

Also, I've considered writing musical lyrics before....I have a friend who's the lead guitarist in a great local band, and he could probably put my words to music.  BTW, singing-wise, I'm a baritone (if you cared).  Smiley

I have been singing in choruses almost every year since I was in high school (over 35 years ago), and among the musical instruments I have dabbled in are electric organ, piano, guitar, viola, bass, flute, French Horn, and trombone.
Well, I more than just "dabbled" in piano, but the fact is I never was very good at it anyway, despite all the years that I practiced and took lessons.
A tutor who tooted the flute,
Tried to tutor two tooters to toot.
Said the two to the tutor,
"Is it easier to toot,
Or to tutor two tooters to toot?"

(One of my college instructors wrote that on the blackboard on the first day I started learning the flute.)

Getting back to my singing experiences, I'm a bass, and almost exactly two years ago I had my first-time-ever solo of an entire song. However, it was an awfully silly song. You can see the composer's own version of the song I did by searching the Youtube video with "Monster, B-52's." I don't think I can provide a Youtube link here.

Voted NOTA. I have very, very basic knowledge of guitar and piano chords, and I scream...although I haven't done it heavily in roughly a year because I've had a lot of throat issues, though not apparently linked to my vocal techniques. After I recorded vocals for the record I made last year, I've lost a lot of interest in writing lyrics.

I sing, and I can play piano and guitar decently. I've learned a few other instruments as well, so I have a basic understanding how they work. I would hope I'm at least competent in my musical abilities, since I am a music teacher.

Tried learning how to play the guitar, but cbfed after a while. Can't sing to save myself.

Reckon I'd make a decent drummer.

I can sing decently well (what I really mean is I have very good range - or so I've been told - for someone who has never taken singing lessons and is just a shower singer/drunk karaoke kind of guy) and have a really good "musical ear," but that's it.
