Awesome.  Polis has been a great advocate for civil liberties in the House, so I hope he does well.

Are there any poll numbers for the gubernatorial election yet?

Now that he's running, he's probably going to outspend his opponents to win the nomination and possibly spend millions in the general election.

Wouldn't Jared Polis be the first elected openly gay governor in the United States if elected? And before anyone responds, Jim McGreevey of New Jersey came out while in office.

I don't see any serious political differences between Polis and Perlmutter. And both are acceptable to me....

Polis seems like a good guy, but I remember reading somewhere on here that he isn't a terrific candidate. Anyone care to elaborate on that, or am I misremembering?

Huh. I thought Polis was gonna be a cinch for the Democratic nomination against Gardner. Interesting that he's decided to go for this instead.

Actually, I think I'd rather Polis run against Gardner, because it's federal drug laws and privacy intrusions which need to be addressed.  So I guess this is a bit of a downer for me.

Although maybe Polis already knows Wesner is planning to run against Gardner...

This is good news, in the sense that it gets him out of the House. Hopefully he'll lose the gubernatorial primary.

Wait, is anyone actually speculating about Wesner? I thought that was just a Tender Branson thing.

Polis has some solid positions but he is very much the poster child for the term "limousine liberal"

Polis is a pretty weak GE candidate, especially compared to Perlmutter.

Hasn't he also had some underwhelming performances in his Safe D district as well? I think I read that somewhere.

Perlmutter should drop back down I don't see him winning against Polis. IMO Polis has a great profile, self made millionaire unlike Trump.

But Perlmutter will solidify the tradition of Colorado having governors with ridiculous names. Hickenlooper, Perlmutter, who knows!

Kate Brown of OR was the first openly LGBT governor (bisexual) that was elected, though that was after she ascended to the governor's office after the Kitzhaber resignation.

That's what I thought too. But I suppose whoever loses the primary for Governor (Polis or Perlmutter) could then run for Senate the next cycle. Or maybe John Hickenlooper will try to run for Senate, and Polis thought this race would be easier?

Eh, maybe it is.  I assumed people were speculating about her but if there's anyone who can make a Colorado Senate race happening three years from now about Austria, it's Tender.

Dear God, not Hickenlooper.  Is he even popular there still?

He supports weed and single payer, he can self fund which takes some funding pressures off the race and the DNC, and he's my congressman. Absolutely endorsed.
