Is there any case to be made for a Reed candidacy?

I would probably vote for him if he won the nomination. He'd almost certainly have to run as the "return to normalcy" candidate, which would be a problem since we're dealing with an incumbent who makes every other option look like a "return to normalcy" candidate. A fitting way to, uh, "celebrate" the centennial of the election I'm referencing.

But that isn't to say I'd have any particular reservations about voting for him.

EDIT: Y'know, reading more about him now, I actually like him a lot, and the idea's kind of growing on me as I type this and read the first couple responses. But I think it's unlikely, either way, that he'd even run.

Yes, if he wants. He would be the sane, safe good government Northeasten white liberal candidate. Foreign policy experience. However, is he too white for America?

He would be a great candidate in the GE. Not sure how he could catch fire in the primary though.

If every Senator wanted to run for President, we'd have primaries with the winner getting 1%. That isn't right.

No, I fail to see how it would hurt him. A burn-everything-to-the-ground might not look so appealing after four years of cheeto.

He would probably do a better job at flipping Trump voters than a Steve Bullock or Sherrod Brown. The fact that he went to West Point, actually served, and has a general mild-mannered reputation (as opposed to barnburners like Brown and Warren) would win him serious crossover votes. I'm not sure how he'd do in a primary, but he voted against Iraq and opposed fast-track for the TPP, so he would pass at least the eye test among Democratic base voters.

He's never struck me as the type of guy who would run for President -- igniting excitement with his candidacy.

He's a good Senator, he'd make a good President... but he's not running and probably not exciting enough to be elected. More likely to retire in a few years.

He could be a good VP choice, especially for someone wanting foreign policy credentials.
