Lamb vs. Davey, then? With Lamb as the favorite?

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

I'm not sure why but I kind of like the vibe I get from Lamb.

Me too. He kind of comes across as a standard Labour member.

He was the Orange Bookers choice at the last leadership election!

He comes off as one, he isn't actually one.

Davey has less baggage and seems more electable.

What "baggage" does Lamb have? If anything, Davey has more business connections and so forth that certain types of people might view as "baggage".

Of course, Ed Davey actually wrote a chapter of the Orange Book, so these things clearly change.

And to say Lamb was right of Farron in 2015 is not to say much at all. The two took basically identical positions on everything.

Sky News says Vince Cable is running.

I have a feeling he'll be unopposed.

His past campaign against Farron showed him to be a rather weak candidate.

http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=4761a1f83089fd89eba4fef19&id=d608adefa6&e=%5BUNIQID#mctoc2 It should be noted that for what it's worth a poll was done of lib dem members and it found Lamb ahead of Cable 30-29%, with Lamb winning 52-48% without any other candidates, Cable beats Davey 57-43% if Lamb doesn't run...

Vince Cable...why not just bring back Paddy Ashdown?

LibDem under Cable will have an appeal to Liberal Tories I guess

He's not an MP

Also he probably shoked on his hat in 2015... RIP.

At 74 he'll probably only lead for one election, maybe two if there's another election held this year.

Isn't Cable part of the social democratic wing of the LDs?

Can't say he showed much of that during the coalition years

I imagine most of the tuition fee business was negotiated with the Tories before he even got his hands on the ministry.

I get the feeling if Charles Kennedy was still alive, he would be the front runner in this race easily, especially if he won his old seat back. Do you that he could/would win?

That would depend on his health. He didn't look particularly good in his later years. Check out his final appearance on the BBC's Question Time (just a couple of months or so before his death): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9w0UjwX9vY

Comparable to Jack Layton's final press conference.

Vince Cable is too old. I would prefer him to Lamb, probably, but Lloyd, Davey, or the New Jo would be better than either.

Ah, if Lembit Opik were still electorally kicking; maybe the Lib Dems need their own Boris... ;-)

@bbclaurak
Lamb has concerns over Lib Dem focus on Remain voters and second referendum

He's not wrong, Tim Farron strategy alienated a lot of Lib Dem leave voters in the south west...
And it's obvious that attempting to be the party of the 48% failed, their vote share went down compared to 2015.
