Mitt Romney won in 2012, and was re-elected in 2016. What are some differences in the past four years of American politics, who did the Democrats nominate last year, and how did the election go? What is the general mood of the country, and how does it differ from what's going on IRL?

That's one of my questions in the post. The immediate answer would be Hillary Clinton, but that's certainly not definite, especially if she's known as State Sec for a one-term president.

ISIS likely would have  been destroyed by now and the economy would be in better shape

-no same sex marriage nationwide
-far weaker protections for Trans and other LGB people
-no obamacare
-greater evangelical influence in govt
-lower taxes; potentially larger deficit

Far worse than today.

That was done by the courts and not Obama.

Unemployment would be around the same as now. Same sex marriage still passes but Romney doesn't fight it. The U.S seems relatively prosperous. Romney would go down as a good president.

Of course, but Romney would surely appoint a more conservative judiciary and a Romney Presidency would viciously fight against same sex marriage. We see it as a forgone conclusion today, but it was far from it. Public opinion would probably still be divided if Romney won.
