Well, all the hype for this election was fun while it lasted.

I think the hype for these special elections in general is ridiculous. They don't tell us anything about where the parties will do well in 2018 or what the results will look like. It's just annoying spin from BOTH SIDES™.

Yeah, but the parties spent $50 million on, and the democrats tried to turn it into a referendum on Trump (which failed, despite the relatively good results).

Special elections don't always reflect what will happen in the midterm and there are plenty of Republicans in Clinton districts that will probably lose next year. GA-6 is a Republican gerrymander, anyway and it functioned just as it was intended to tonight. It could flip next year, though.
When are you guys actually going to start winning anything?

Haha, yay! No more healthcare for us poor rural folks! Yippee! Go Trump! I'm so sick of all this WINNING.

Get over yourself. Politics isn't a game, and "winning" trivializes the suffering that thousands are going to endure.

As I was saying on Facebook: Americans are the untermenschen of the 21st century.  Hopefully the Free Market Purge rids us of some undesirables.

Guys, save your angst for when we actually have elections where the Democratic House candidate in normal elections hasn't regularly lost by 20+ points.

GA-06 could be VA-10 in a few cycles.

I guess my suspicions about affluent college educated whites trending strongly for Democrats were somewhat justified.

they tell us something about "the mood" of both parties, imho.

Uninformed voters don't care that we are a laughingstock, and our allies mistrust us. Fearmongering about terrorism and plastering Pelosi's/Schumer's mugs are far more vital.

The result in one district is in no way indicative of the national mood. The entire point is to take multiple results and extrapolate from there; you're supposed to consider them all collectively, not cherry-pick to justify what you believe to be true because you want to feel good. If we do that (not cherry-pick), then we see a clear national shift toward the Democrats. One disappointing result doesn't change that. I'm disappointed and sick of 'moral victories' myself, but looking at this analytically, I'm optimistic about the midterms and other future elections.

Because 80,000 people voted. It's a good result for the Democrats but it's tiny cake. We took the big cake and the tiny cake.

So Parnell's authenticity was worth as much if not more than Ossoff's phoniness and his special interest money.

The last time something good happened in American politics since Obama's win is JBE. How f**king sad. 2018 is an eternity from now.

And people wanting Democrats to poison the well even further need to realize that the Dem base is simply not receptive to that kind of stuff. Ossoff would've lost by more if he spewed the Trumpian rhetoric some of you wish he did.

Except that he is the president.  If this seat somehow had a special election under President Clinton, the Republicans would have won it by 25 points.
