A lot of people in line are drinking iced coffee. Good sign. Only liberals drink iced coffee.

Dave Wasserman @Redistrict
We could be talking >250k total votes in #GA06. When's last time turnout for a stand-alone special was that high? I can't find an example.

Last minute reminder:

Michael McDonald‏ @ElectProject  22s22 seconds ago
When we get the #GA06 early vote dump, expect them to be much worse for Ossoff than the 1st round. More Reps voted early in 2nd round

Even without the flooding, that would be an unexpectedly super high total.

For our GA people - when do results begin coming in?

We're probably 20-30 minutes away.

Karen Handel    Republican    37,140    51.4%
Jon Ossoff           Democrat            35,111    48.6

All Fulton EV.

It's just in-person though, no mail (which will lean more Dem).

I see nobody saw the posts that these early vote numbers are just in-person early vote, and doesn't including the Dem-leaning mail votes.

Handel should probably win a very close race at this point.

In fully reporting precincts for Election Day vote, Handel is doing about 0.6% worse and Ossoff about 0.6% better than round 1 (than total Republicans and Democrats respectively). Likely not enough though for Ossoff.

Can Dems apply some of Parnell's overperformance to Ossoff to help him win?

If Democrats did more to try to help Parnell, he would have done worse.

Hmmm

Democratic strategist remains upbeat. Voting by mail is seen as an Ossoff stronghold and it's not yet been factored into returns.

How does Trafalgar Group do it?

They got the Early Vote essentially correct (Ossoff +3), and the final margin looks to be dead on (Handel +2) at the moment.

I hate to do it, but hats off to Trafalgar tonight.

Biggest questions remaining:

1. Can Ossoff perform better in the remaining DeKalb areas?
2. Can Ossoff win the mail in votes by a massive margin?

If yes to both, he could still have a chance.

OK, that's enough info for me to say this is over. Not good enough in the mail-ins for Ossoff.

Honestly I'm just glad this is over. It's been exhausting. I'm disappointed by the loss, but it doesn't hurt too much knowing how little an impact it will have on the 2018 races.

When will some people realize it takes more than just a good candidate to win a race? Ossoff was by no means a bad candidate. He wasn't perfect, but he did probably pretty close to the best a Democrat in his position could do given the circumstances. People don't lose just because of how good they are as a candidate. Perhaps there is a set of factors that could have aligned to provide a victory, but that was not the case here at this time.
