What would you do differently to real-life Trump to meet your two goals:
1. Personal popularity and re-election in 2020
2. A successful policy agenda

Currently Trump has approval ratings in the 30's, dogged by scandal and spent all his political capital in trying to pass a historically unpopular healthcare bill. How would you do better?

LOL, this would be so much fun. I'd troll so hard.

"I have a plan that actually has illegal Mexicans paying for the wall. My new pathway to citizenship has them paying a fine that will go to build something there."

"I will immediately repeal Obamacare and replace it with single payer."

"That Paris climate change is terrible. I'm going to join Nicaragua and leave it. Because it doesn't go far enough".

Day 1:

Fire Comey
Move Barron and Melania to DC
Pick a likable, brilliant and/or articulate press secretary
Give control of my Twitter account to Pence
Invite Schumer and Pelosi to the office to discuss infrastructure, and establish a working relationship

Several major things:
1. Prime time national speech where I renounce the hate I advanced during the campaign, pledge to stop tweeting, and also reaffirm the independence of the FBI and the value of our institutions.
2. Continue to pivot on rhetoric; stake out harsh position on Saudi Arabia and visit Canada/Mexico for first foreign policy trip.
3. Goodwill trip to Mexico; reverse anti-Mexican campaign rhetoric.
4. Propose an ACA replacement that includes a public option, tort reform, and other conservative ideas included.
5. Propose immigration reform.
6. Propose infrastructure reform.
7. Meet with supporters of BLM and propose criminal justice reform.

If there really is collusion with Russia, then none of this matters and I'd just resign, then probably take cyanide.

Fire Pence, appoint Bernie Sanders VP, resign.

The Vice President is an elected officer, not one serving at the President's whim; the President has no authority to fire them. Especially right at the beginning Pence wouldn't resign and he wouldn't be impeached.

That blows.  Why did I pick this man as my veep again?

Guess we'll need either a Second Amendment person or a golden shower video featuring Pence if one exists.  If the latter exists: blackmail time.

1. Immediate and full withdrawal from NAFTA.
2. Order deportations to begin of criminal aliens and rescind DACA.
3. Fire Comey immediately.
4. Convince Sessions to step back from AG nomination in exchange for the seat on the SCOTUS.
5. Get a qualified NY lawyer who is tough, abrasive, and knows his shit in at Justice.

All these responses mainly deal with alternative proposals in policy or administration positions.
But trump's entire problem is trump !

The narcissism needs to be corrected (medication I guess).
His childish tweets need to end.
Conducting himself like a orange-haired clown needs to stop.
His reputation as a man-child needs to be dealt with.

If he could only conduct himself like a professional and presidential adult, many of his problems would not exist.

Assuming I were President of the United States and I had run a competent campaign that, in accordance with our democracy, was intended as an effort to gain a mandate for a set of policies - I'll just stop there.

Oh why do I even bother. Trump never ever thought of his campaign as that kind of political campaign. (Sanchez, this is why your list is off.) Trump ran it as a reality show advertisement, not as a political campaign with the intent to organize for an Administration.

It's one reason he flounders day to day. He never asked for a mandate for a set of policies, ever. He asked for votes for personal election. This is the problem. He didn't see himself leading a movement, he saw himself on a massive ego trip.

I would move to make my role as President more of that of a figurehead, at least for the duration of my term. I would get all Congressional leaders together and tell them something along the lines of "I'm not well enough versed in policy to make demands of you, so if you can get it to my desk, I'll sign it. But if it's very unpopular with the American people, I'll listen to them before I listen to you - i.e. no health care bills with 17% approval." I'd direct Pence to be the liaison between the White House and Capitol, and keep me informed of various goings on at the other end of Pennsylvania Ave, as well as keeping track of important court cases.

I would then just keep campaigning, traveling around the country visiting sick kids, doing voluntary work in hard-hit communities, planting trees, kissing babies, stuff that makes for good PR without really having any kind of ideological elements. I'd visit our allies, meet with their leaders, and tell them that I'll take their concerns into consideration. And more than anything, keep a pretty low profile in terms of big controversial moves until 2020.

My first instinct would be to kill myself because living life as T***p is a fate worse than death, but then I'd realize it would mean handing the keys of the White House to President Pence. So if I had the abnegation, I'd spend my time doing everything I possibly can to damage the Republican brand while at the same time vetoing any conservative legislation. Then in 2020 I'd run for the GOP nomination and make it as much of a mess as possible, and if I'm somehow renominated I'd make sure to lose in a landslide (otherwise I'd actively smear whoever the GOP nominee is). Then after the election is over, I'd finally kill myself.

You are a horrible, horrible human being who cares less about his country than he does about his party.

1. Pass (eventually self-sustainable within five years) universal healthcare by contacting Democrats(particularly Sanders and Wyden), Collins, Murkowski, Heller, Flake, and Toomey.
2. Sign a $250 billion dollar infrastructure bill
3. Sign a four week maternity leave bill
4. Raise the federal minimum wage to $9.95
5. Appoint Zalmay Khalilzad or Richard Grenell as National Security Advisor
6. Appoint Neel Kashkari, R. Glenn Hubbard, or Roger Ferguson as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers
7. Appoint James Stavridis Deputy Secretary of Defense
8. Appoint Gabriel Gomez Secretary of the Navy
9. Appoint Greg Kelly as Deputy National Security Advisor
10. Appoint Scott Brown Secretary of the Army

Can anyone actually imagine having sex in Trump's fat, flaccid shell of a body? Imagine how bad his stomach rolls must stink.

Would I be like the "Tramp" character in Charlie Chaplin's masterful The Great Dictator? Telling people the obvious and necessary, contrary to the lies that they had recently been spoon-fed, would I tell people that Trump trashed that character matters greatly and that identity is all but meaningless? Would I tell people that they need to quit fearing the liars that exploit and abuse them? Would I tell people that they need to cherish justice and reason? Sure.

Why not have fun with it and pretend to be a king and talk about "my lords and vassals", handpicked and bred from the best of the gentry, helping me implement my royal decree to deliver America to "my loyal yeomen of the realm". Also, I would talk about the forgotten husbandmen and cottagers of the realm who will no longer be subjected to the neglegent rule of the Burgers and Guilds. They will no longer suffer the raids of the Bedouin or the engrossment by the orientals and foreign princes. They will serve and be protected by the best knights! I will probably start building castles for various wealthy allies and Republican politicians in rural Kansas, Georgia, and Wyoming and have them drive around there in cars that cost as much as houses to patrol the realm.
