Since he refused to support Hillary Clinton, what would have happened if Trump named Jim Webb as his VP?

Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, and New Hampshire might flip.

He could of maybe balanced out The Kaine factor in Virginia and got on board some moderate or conservative democrats but then again could push away more conservative republicans or never trumpers because a democrat would be on the ticket

I don't think anything different would have happened.

I don't believe that Webb would have gotten the GOP nomination.

I also note that Webb never said he was voting for Trump.  He said he "wont vote for Clinton, but I might vote for Trump" but never, to my recollection, said that he would actually do so, or actually did so.

I suppose I could see McMullin winning Utah in this scenario.

Webb had a fairly liberal voting record in the Senate, including affirmative votes on Obama's two pro-choice picks among other problems.  I think he would've damaged the ticket, on balance, by offending conservatives who were already cool on Trump.
