He usually votes for the PSD in Portugal and supported the VVD in The Netherlands, as far as I know.

Probably an European centrist/centre-right voter disgusted by the influence of people like Trump (and before that the religious right) in the Republican party, hence the Dem avatar (basically what I'm slowly becoming Wink).

Yeah, most Europeans on the center-right support the Democrats. Mike88 is hardly an exception.

Greens. Van der Bellen will need a sizable majority.

He'll also need to develop good working relationship with the Austrian Emperor.

It's unfortunately caused by anti-GOP bias in the European media.

The KPÖ has a very hands-on approach:

Funny that nobody voted for the TS so far, it looks like everyone knew they are politically bankrupt. And they OFFICIALLY are since yesterday.

Why would anyone of a liveral/centrist bent favour OVP over SPO this time round?
I just realized this was directed at me, probably. I don't really, but Kurz is the best shot at reforming the ÖVP.

"we" just not like what the GOP is selling - you are over-estimating the power of the media by far.

I have a question about NEOS - are they actually a general Centrist party, that would sit in the middle of the spectrum, or are they like the FDP and actually rabid free-marketers in real life?

Their seems to be a tendancy in European politics for the self defined "Centre" to really be just a bunch of right wingers who don't mind immigrants and gays...

It's probably the latter

they are progressive, more or less, and campaign hard against the far-right.

just difficult to be liberal (both ways) in austria, especially in the year of kurz.

In the same way that Erdogan "reformed" Turkey.

SPÖ, but if the Greens or the breakaway Greens are hovering near the threshold on election day I'd strategically support them.

Preferred coalitions:
1) SPÖ-Greens-NEOS
2) SPÖ-FPÖ (my anti-Kurz reflex compels me to rank this above 3) )
3) SPÖ-ÖVP (only if SPÖ would get the chancellorship)
