I'm sure this fight is far from over, but it's nice to see a victory for state's rights against a vastly overreaching Federal establishment.

Donald Trump is an environmental disaster; he considers pollution progress.

Worse, he pursues his regressive policies in a profoundly Statist fashion.

California already effectively sets emissions standards since companies don't want to have to tool cars to multiple specifications and they're the largest portion of the US car market.

My car meets California emissions standards even though it wasn't sold in California, has never been registered in California and has never even been driven anywhere near California.

Excellent. A sound justification for state's rights all around.

As someone who has lived in California for most of my life (and that's a lot of years), I can tell you that quite awhile ago before all the standards were put in place, our air could get really dirty. It was awful. At least LA and San Diego were like this.

Now most days are pretty clear, and it feels wonderful to breathe in that type of air as opposed to the brown stuff that used to cover our cities.

Anyone who thinks that it's OK to loosen emission standards anywhere is an ignorant fool.

Somewhere where federalism makes a lot of sense and does a lot of good
