Again I ask: aren't nations entitled to defend themselves from foreign saboteurs? This is the age of nationalism, after all.

There is a difference between fining someone 100 dollars for vandalism and putting them in jail for decades and denying him medical care only to release him when he is basically dead for tearing down the poster propagandizing a thuggish, criminal regime with no legitimate claim to sovereignty beyond the iron boot of the Soviets and Red Chinese sixty years ago.

There is a reason that they treated him like that. It is not because they are a sovereign state guarding against foreigners vandalizing something, it is because they are a totalitarian regime that exists only at the point of a gun and indoctrination. Rejecting the propaganda is like committing treason, of the same level as throwing a bomb or firing a gun.

Are the Saudis that bad?
