A pro-Trump outside group is launching an advertising blitz against Republican Sen. Dean Heller over his opposition to the health care repeal bill — a bold act of political retaliation against a member of the president’s own party. The barrage, which will be orchestrated by America First Policies, a group run by many of President Donald Trump’s top campaign advisers, is backed by more than a million dollars, according to multiple sources familiar with the planning. Digital ads are set to begin running on Friday, and television and radio spots are set to launch early next week.

"You do not want to mess with Donald Trump’s base in a primary, particularly in a place like Nevada,” said one America First official. “This kind of money in Nevada is real. … This is a beginning.” The ad campaign will paint Heller as a “typical politician,” one of the sources familiar with the planning said, and will characterize him as standing with Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi against the White House.

One of the donors Rebekah Mercer had no problem with the group eating its own, even using Trump's supporters against him

I am not surprised at all that these tactics are used at a shady 501(c)(4), esp. a pro-Trump one.

I honestly believe this is 4D chess. Pointing out Heller's opposition would make him more electable in the GE.

The purge has begun. The Trump regime is starting to cull its supporters for not being fervent  enough in support. Tests of ideological purity are becoming critical.

Who will be the Rajk, Slansky, Patrascanu, or Kostov of this Presidency?

7 figure ad buys will make him unpopular among Trump supporters. And Democrats & left leaning groups are launching their own ad buys showing people suffering, children suffering from Medicaid cuts older people bankrupt. Heller is going to be sandwiched !

Far from uncharted waters in Nevada politics.

The Trump cult is hard at work remaking the GOP in its radical image by purging it of any non-sociopathic or obedient elements, I see.

It's a good thing that the crazy opposition gaining prominence in a GOP primary has never ended badly before

Considering that he opposes TrumpRyanCare for non-horrible reasons is there any chance he might try to switch parties? Especially if he has a primary challenge and is likely to lose in the general?

Switch parties to what?

To Democratic? Well, he basically would be a cross between Lyndon LaRouche and David Duke with equally strong chances of winning the nomination.

To Independent? Seems unlikely at the moment, but I guess pretty much anything is possible with President Off-My-Meds.

How ironic considering Trump was Schumer's biggest and most consistent donor before he ran for president

Trump is a con-man with no consistent ideology. I thought we all knew that.

There are many, many reasons why people hate the TeaBaggers.

That's what I was going to say. Does the Tea Party even still exist? I thought they had amalgamated into the Trumptard cult.

The Tea Party types didn't become hard-core Trumpists by and large, I think. The Freedom Caucus types are probably the closest.

I'm not too sure.  I don't think a loss margin will be that big.  Kirk wasn't a really good fit for his state.  Heller is better, though, of course, not perfect.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic Smiley but I just don't see a complete wipeout.  I'd say, as of now, max D +5%
