My plan for the South

My fellow Southerners, we are deeply disturbed by the loss of NeverAgain, who was a governor of us previously. We are all even more deeply saddened by the loss of my good friend OneJ. But we shall not fear and look to the future instead. But we shall not fear and look to the future instead. I see in the future a D-NC leading the South to greatness. You may wonder, 'I know Peebs is a great SOFE and RG and Representative, but why would she make a good Governor, aside from the fact that she's awesome and has great experience?' That is a good question, and the answer is clearly laid out in this speech where I share with you my amazing platform for the South, the working man, woman, and others, for weeks, and later, months, of prosperity with Peebs.



My goal for the South is to bring sensible solutions to the table and to resolve the issues that face our region. The policies I would diligently strive to achieve under my administration are common sense measures that we can all agree on.

The first common sense measure comes in the area of infrastructure. I believe the best way to create jobs and provide us with adequate roads, bridges, and trains are policies that would encourage materials made locally to be used in construction and ensure that it is well-maintained and constructed. A major infrastructure plan that was started by NeverAgain was the AtlasRail project - a high-speed rail system organized by the governors that would connect each region. I believe this plan should go full-steam ahead and I would continue on the road that NeverAgain started us upon. Yet progress comes at a cost, and we should work to minimize that cost - this bring us to the next part of my platform, sustainability.

Our natural resources are precious, finite, and sometimes have nasty side effects. We should work to preserve the resources we have before it is too late and give incentives to the private sector to curb the negative effects that stem from their usage. Speaking of the private sector, I can assure you that as governor, I will fight for the worker! WE must pursue policies that benefit the working class, including paid sick and family leave, and encouraging the use of unions in the South, as they are beneficial to workers. I will also encourage the Chamber of Delegates to pass legislation raising the minimum wage.

A healthy population is good for everybody - and I will pursue policies in the area of healthcare that will make it available to everybody, while preserving the free market and competition. And this should include more than just physical health. Mental health should be covered just as much. I would support improving education programs to address that issue more often, as it is ignored too much under the current programs. And this isn't the only reform that is needed in our education system. The current education system doesn't recognize that every student has different needs and talents, and the schools need to cater to every single one. We need a system that does. And once they are out of high school, I wish to give economically struggling students more financial assistance in achieving a college degree.

The final plank of my platform is equality. For obvious reasons, I was overjoyed when the Southern Chamber of Delegates passed the Transgender Rights Act. I would love to see more achievements like this when I am governor of the South. We must respect Southerners of all orientation, race, gender identity, and religion and ensure that people have the freedom to be themselves and say what they want. As governor, I would look for areas where rights could be expanded and make sure that they are certainly expanded.

My election would be a big day for our region. I would like to thank you all for reading this speech, and a big thanks to fhtagn for making sure the Chamber of Delegates has run smoothly. I look forward to seeing the results of the election.

Peebs isn't a dude, there's no reason at all for you to say she is (upsetting people is not a valid reason--in fact it's a valid reason not to do something, even if you disagree with them politically).
