Land of corruption, seemingly moderate Republicans and sons that embarrass the legacies of their fathers.

Governors are sworn in on New Years Day and their terms expire on New Years Eve, hence the odd start and end dates.

Pataki/Spitzer
George Pataki was easily the best recent governor of New York and the worst has to be Eliot Spitzer. I'd say out of the Democratic governors on the list the best is Andrew Cuomo.

Pataki/Spitzer. It's a shame Pataki didn't get more attention in 2016.

Should note that Spitzer was a good #2.

I agree. Andrew Cuomo is repugnant and probably one of the few potential 2020 Democratic nominees I wouldn't support (not that he'd win the nomination, his approval ratings rival that of the President).

Yeah I agree. He wasn't my first choice for the nomination (it was Scott Walker) but he is most certainly one ''liberal'' Republican I'd happily vote for.

How's Spitzer the best? I admit he was a talented politician and was probably a future president but he blew it with his scandal there and was forced to resign after having served less than 15 months in office. (Not judging, just genuinely curious)

I don't hold his prostitution "scandal" against him. He's a man. Men do stuff. There's no reason to be outraged.

Even if they are sworn on new year day don't their terms technically expire then cause they are still governor for a few hours on New Year's Day (unless new governor is sworn in at midnight ).
