I would like to know if there are people in other countries that can be comparable with Trump.
I.e. wealthy media tycoons, who are considered controversial, boorish, arrogant. Them being interested in politics would be a big plus.

For the UK, it's obviously Simon Cowell.
His German alter ego is definitely Dieter Bohlen.
His Austrian counterpart is Richard Lugner, who has even run for president.

Any ideas for other countries?

You forgot Frank Stronach, who was very Trump-ish politically. He's a much better businessman than politician.

To be honest, I thought Stronach and Lugner were one and the same person.

I believe Australia's is Tony Abbott.

Did he also use to be a political outsider from the media before he became prime minister?

Not too sure about that.  I had once met some Australians who claimed that he was a lot like Trump politically, and from what I understand, he is also a controversial speaker.

The UK's would probably be Katie Hopkins or Boris Johnson. I would say Farage but despite his Trump-esque policies he has a down-to-earth personality.

The Netherlands is definitely Wilders.

Canada's would have to be Kevin O'Leary.

France is Le Pen.

Hungary's is Viktor Orban.

Sweden's is Jimmie Akesson.

We also have Thierry Baudet Wink.

Hey, thanks for all your answers, but I was actually getting at celebrities and moguls who are not holding political offices.

I think Donald Trump's closest equivalent in Germany was probably Ronald Schill, a highly controversial and extremely colourful right-wing populist who served as interior minister of Hamburg from 2001 to 2003.

Schill was a former criminal judge who founded his "Law and Order Offensive Party" in 2000 and stunned everybody by winning almost 20% of the vote a year later in the Hamburg state election. His campaign promises included the castration of sex offenders and the imprisonment of the parents of juvenile offenders. After the election, he became interior minister and deputy mayor in a coalition with CDU and FDP.

His 22-month tenure as a member of the Hamburg cabinet continued to be marked with controversy: Outlandish and/or xenophobic statements, feuds with the media, his excessive party life, accusations of corruption and abuses of power, accusations of cocaine use (which were seemingly disproven after a controversial drug test undertaken during his time in office, but were in fact confirmed years later after he had left office)...

He was abruptly fired in 2003 by Hamburg mayor Ole von Beust after Schill had attempted to blackmail Beust with alleged knowledge of a sexual affair between Beust and his justice minister Roger Kusch.

Soon after, his own party expelled him and he tried to form a new party with his remaining loyalists. But he had never any electoral successes again. Sometime around 2006 he emigrated to Brazil. He kind of returned to public life in 2014 when he began to appear as a participant in a couple of reality TV shows.

Yes, he's a good example. His name stands for the incalculable risks of populism in Poland.

You put that very diplomatically. 😂
Do you think Trump would attend the same TV shows Schill did? 🤣

I could see Trump in Big Brother, but he would probably be too vain to do something like Adam seeks Eve. Besides, who wants to see his fat ass completely uncovered??

Abbott is a controversial figure but he's much closer to Australian Ted Cruz than he is to Australian Donald Trump. Pauline Hanson is your best Aussie equivalent as a nationalist leader. Clive Palmer is noteworthy an honorable mention, as his personality and story is more Trumpish.

Yeah, but much worse when it comes to speaking ability and behaviour. Also, he's even more of a terrible human being imo.
I think Yair Lapid is also a bit similar in the sense that he was a famous media figure, entered politics as kind of a laughing stock and surprised everyone with his showing.
