Not sure if gun rights belong into the Constitution, probably not. I guess a regular law would do as well.

Not true. Here in Austria for example, the gun law was significantly tightened in 1997 - after a gun rampage in Salzburg. Studies have found that since then, gun homicides and suicides dropped by about 80%. Whereas in the early 1990s some 50% of homicides have been committed with a firearm, this dropped below 10% of all homicides in recent years. Compare Austria with the US for example, in which gun homicides account for 70% (!) of all homicides. In general the homicide rate here dropped from 2/100.000 people in the early 1990s to 0.5/100.000 people now - the lowest rates ever recorded. There's been a huge decline among suicides as well, especially among gun suicides.

I'm definitely in favour of restricted access to guns, with heavy background checks.

The Czechs endured the worst of Nazism then followed that with 45 years of Communism. They aren't gonna sit around and wait for the next threat to take them over. Thank god for the Visegrad Group or Europe would be screwed. Ceska, Slovensko, Polska, Magyarorszag; hold the line!
