Big FF. His solid debate performances led to a huge boost in his popular appeal, thus leading him to come even closer than Jon Ossoff to winning a Deep South House seat gerrymandered to give the GOP maximum possible advantage. His experience in both government and business gave him a great deal of intellectual capacity and ability to show the clear superiority of the Democratic message to the ruthless incompetence of far-right Cruz-backed Republican candidate Ralph Norman.

I don't agree with a lot of jfern's criticisms of the Democratic party, but if one of them is true anywhere, it is here: the Dems definitely should have given more to back the major FF Archie Parnell.

His debate performance:

Parnell definitely overperformed the fundamentals of the district (the 2012 results are twice as much predictive of the special election results as the 2016 ones), but not as much as Jon Ossoff did in Georgia.

Meanwhile, the far-left "end prisons!" Green Party candidate Kulma proved the futility of McGovernism by coming in last place, getting less than half a percent of the vote.
