The right person could probably convince me to root for pretty much any team though. Maybe even the Yankees.

If you base who your favorite sports teams on by who "wins the most titles," you're objectively a horrible person deserving of zero respect.

Yet many people love a Big 4 premier league team here. Or like Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern not Sunderland, Deportivo de Coruña, or Hamburg SV...purely random of course, not at all based on winning titles and hence being on TV more.

Why do you like the Vikings?

As a kid, I worshiped Brett Favre. I followed him around from Green Bay to the Jets to Minnesota. After he retired, it was easier to stick with the Vikings rather than replace all the trinkets around the house and pick a new team. Although, to be fair, I do root for the Patriots once the Vikings are out of contention.

Super Bowl 31 - everyone looking at you funny in Mass, "who's this kid cheering for Favre?"

University of Tennessee diehards followed Peyton Manning from the Colts to the Broncos. They did not do that for anyone else. Reggie White was a case of him moving to a popular team for bandwagon fans (The Packers) I had not heard of people who loved the Eagles because of him but then switched allegiances to the Packers. Definitely No Vols fans following New England because of Jerrod Mayo! They can't live down all the losses.

Montana had a few but most people grew to like the Niners with Steve Young too.

At the Patriots museum though per Gil Santos' son who spoke to the audience before the little film in the theater there about having the Patriots as their favorite team. Some woman said "what about if you have two favorite teams?" He Shrugged and said yes that is "alright unless it is the Jets!"
