Anyway, it's funny to see "the Elite" is the most blamed scapegoat. To the Conservatives on this forum, "the Elite" probably are Hollywood actors and NYT Journalists. To me, they are more like the J. P. Morgan-Chase executives and Exxon shareholders.

And that is why. "The Elite" is vague enough that both liberals and conservatives can and do rail against them, while the other bugbears on the list are mostly exclusive to one side.

The Republican political strategy of using resentment to motivate voters whose lives and financial situation gets worse every single year yet is entirely caused by the people they elected in the first place who in turn further prop up and validate their resentments.

One example is Ohio voting for Trump because he promised to bring jobs back and then in turn voting for Portman who voted for every single free trade agreement in his political career.

This is literally Thomas Frank's thesis in What's the Matter with Kansas?. The book was written in 2004 and things have only gotten worse.

^ I've pretty much accepted that the Democrats will do great at the state and local level while blowing it at the federal level in House and Senate races. Why? Because the DCCC and the overall Party apparatus are so insulated in their bubbles that they're ignorant and have no idea what's going on in this country. This is why the media thought the Democrats were united behind Clinton and the GOP was in a civil war with Trump. They assumed the Party officials feelings represented how the base of each respective Party felt; and they were dead wrong. The national Democrats are just gonna continue to throw mud with the Russia investigation and hope it sticks. They have no interest articulating any kind of message that people want to hear and will choke when the midterms hit.

Local and state level Democrats will be much more in tune with their constituents; and their campaigns will be far more successful. They can tailor their message and not worry about their race becoming nationalized which would galvanize the GOP to turnout. The national level Democrats on the other hand are easily on track to squander a golden opportunity for House pickups in 2018 and will lose more than a couple seats in the senate.

I agree with Santander on something!

Of course, I mean it in the gendered way and he probably doesn't...

Dont be surprised at all if Dems blow 2018, 2020.

I'm already mentally preparing to an epic failure. And many will claim the Democratic Party went "too far-left" and failed to reach to centrist voters when they fail to retake the House and lose seats in the Senate.

Human beings. It's also the same group I give credit for almost everything.

Ditto. As such, I voted "the natural order." Everything is on us as humans being generally broken, weird critters.

Also, this is my real response:
