ex. I would say Biden would likely do the best. (You could give them a hypothetical running mate too.)

Former VP Joseph Biden / Sen. Sherrod Brown - 344
Pres. Donald Trump / VP Mike Pence - 194

Assuming Stacey Abrams is elected Governor, I believe a Ron Wyden/Stacey Abrams or James Stavridis/Stacey Abrams ticket would do the best.

387: James Stavridis/Stacey Abrams - 54.9%
151: Donald Trump/Mike Pence - 40.3%

The closest states are, in order: Montana, Utah, Indiana, Iowa, Arizona, Alaska, South Carolina, Texas, Ohio, and Missouri.

The map seems conceivable... except South Carolina. Why South Carolina?

To answer the question: Heidi Heitkamp. But she has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination.

The Progressive Liberal Heel Wrestler from West Virginia obviously! The Map would be all red, except for West Virginia ironically, so what's the point?

It would have to be someone who could think on their feet when responding to Trump's jabs and sound genuine doing so, while also giving off an air of competence. Biden best embodies those aspects. Other candidate seem to be divided into the either/or categories.

South Carolina obviously trends D in this scenario. I suspect SC-5 flips here, as well as maybe SC-1 and SC-7. In this scenario, Abrams manages to run up the African-American turnout, while Wyden or Stavridis makes big inroads in the suburban and urban areas.
