Didn't found any topic about this election. Anyway, Mongolia held presidential elections yesterday and for the first time ever there was a runoff between the two top candidates. The 2nd round was held on July 7th. In the first round there were 3 candidates:

- Battulga Khaltmaa (Democratic Party DP): Current MP, Minister between 2008-2012;

- Miyeegombyn Enkhbold (Mongolian People's Party MPP): Current MPP leader, former PM (2006-2007) and current speaker of the Mongolian Parliament;

- Sainkhuugiin Ganbaatar (Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party MPRP): Current MP;

Official results were released yesterday:

38.6% Battulga Khaltmaa DP Runoff
30.8% Miyeegombyn Enkhbold MPP Runoff
30.6% Sainkhuugiin Ganbaatar MPRP

  1.4% Invalid/Blank

68.3% Turnout

Full results here.

Electoral Map (from wikipedia):

Legend:
Blue - Battulga Khaltmaa
Red - Miyeegombyn Enkhbold
Yellow - Sainkhuugiin Ganbaatar

The centre-left should have won this easily since the third place finisher was far left and the centre-left and the far left had 60% of the vote in the first round. Looks like a significant number of the far left voters went with the conservative in the second round.

I'm guessing it's less about ideology like in many emerging democracies.

This photo college is now circulating the internet, claiming to be of the new president? Can anyone confirm? I want to believe but I was burned by those pictures of the president of Croatia that turned out to be Ice T's wife.
