What is South Dakota like?

Boring, everything is far away, but full of good people.

Why do you have the Madagascan flag beneath your forum name?

My mom is an Indian-Madagascarian, originally from Mahajanga but having roots in Gujarat.

Why did your mom decide to move to South Dakota? Job opportunities? The High Plains (and American rural areas in general) aren't exactly known as a magnet for immigrants, so it's always interesting when I meet someone who's 1st or 2nd gen from one of these areas.

My parents met while studying at the same college, and got hitched at the end of senior year. Mom moved back with dad to South Dakota.

Thoughts on Kamala Harris?

A lovely, charismatic, and passionate woman. Even though she's far to the left of me, I would be proud to vote for her in the primaries and in a general. She reminds me of Obama, in a way. I really liked her speech at the 2012 DNC - her focus on "Family Values" of paid leave, healthy families, and strong homeownership can really resonate with people who have felt that Democrats have focused too much on the culture war and not enough on policy.
