Your thread title ("Kaljew") reminds me of the blaze of the glory in which feeblepizza exited the forum all those years ago:

Evidence please? I looked at the said links in this thread and saw nothing but the I wasn't allowed to view the post message.

Because we deleted those threads.  Here are the thread titles of some of the threads he started just before being banned:

Lief is an Islamic hack
Px75 is a greek not geek fart
Kaljew is a poo
International Elections suckz

He also used an ethnic slur against Kal in another thread.

1.) Ever been to Zakopane?

2.) How you think President Trump is generally viewed in Poland these days by the respective political parties within the country?

I can't answer, but I can try proving I'm not a horse.

Sadly no.

There's a thread on International General Discussion comparing global leaders' approvals in several countries, mine including, and Trump's favorables here are within mid-20s IIRC.

It's embarrassing to admit, but every side started to lick Trump's butt once he came over, just like they used to masturbate over GWB, when we had the same illusion of having "special relationship" with the U.S. Unfortunately the visit will confirm that nonsense.

Polish/Lithuanian/Jewish/Ukrainian/Sorb. Because I never bothered to do a research going back centuries back on all sides, there might be something else. Earliest I know is that my paternal ancestors came from Lusatia (my RL surname comes from a Sorb word for "oar") and that somewhere in the 15th century they owned some substantial lands. Obviously they were https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szlachta.

I don't know our Coat of Arms. From what I've found out there are two possibilities. Either "Topór" (an axe):

or "Ogończyk"

As of my "class" background it includes peasantry, petty nobility (who basically were titled peasants) and working class. Summarizing this would require a longer post.

No. The ruling party managed to pack the Krasiński place with their activist, pretending to be an enthusiastic crowd.

I had a good opportunity to see Melania, as she visited Copernicus Science Centre, which is like four steps away from where I live, but I didn't know about this part and was asleep anyway after, shall we say, being quite tired with earlier stuff.

Good old times.

Feeblepizza was kind of right about Px75 though. He's still missing since the election, right?

Yeah, px hasn't posted since Nov. 8th (election day), and hasn't even logged in since the morning of Nov. 9th.  Xahar is the other prominent poster who went missing after election day and still hasn't returned.

What has it been like, growing up in a country that experienced some form of communism for about a half century? How does it color politics? How has it affected the opportunities available? How do you view its legacy?

For one so far away, why the fascination (and obvious impressive knowledge), about US politics and doings in general?  Have you ever thought of emigrating to the US?

I think I can credit two things for my interest in U.S. politics and history. First, the 2000 presidential election. Second in a school library (around that very time) I discovered a book containing biographies of all Presidents by this guy. Needles to say, I got sucked in.

As of emigrating no, not really, though I wouldn't mind spending a couple of years in the United States.

What has it been like, growing up in a country that experienced some form of communism for about a half century? How does it color politics? How has it affected the opportunities available? How do you view its legacy?

Being born in 1988, one year before the transition, I don't remember the communism itself. As a kid, I haven't really thought of this, but as years went on I could see that period ina diffrent light. In part due to my general interest in politics and history, in fact due to what my parents and grandparents told me about that period. I belong to the first generation of Polish kids that grew up having PCs, even though we still spent a lot of time outdoors. From 1994 to 2001 I lived in Natolin, which is a part of Ursynów Borough of Warsaw. Ursynów in general and Natolin in particular were urbanized and incorporated to Warsaw after the war. Your standard "big concrete" area, but due to my grandparents living in older parts of the city, I knew both. Still, Natolin was only half-build then, with wide fields surrounding our neighbourgood (now gone, sadly), so you can say I grew up witnessing the transformation first-hand on a number of fields.

As of politics, for a long time the main divide line went between "post-Solidarity" and "post-Communists". Although left-wing elements were a prominent part of the opposition, after 1989 post-Solidarity parties started to be dominated by the right, while post-Communists, notably SdRP/SLD (a successor to the PZPR) began to represent the left (with some prominent left-wing former oppositionists joining in, like Andrzej Celiński, while other remained behind and underwent marginalization, like Jacek Kuroń. FF). For years "the left" was a stable, largely monolithic wing, while "the right" was hopelessly fractured. SLD won the 2001 election a landslide, but after getting massacred like French PS in 1993, they can't get their act together, even with the help of other, minor parties. Because for so long SLD practically filled the left wing, the left nowdays is ridiculously weak.

Interestingly, despite PiS loud "anti-communism" a significant part of their electorate are former solid SLD voters, due to PO being perceived as "neoliberal" (in fact PO is an increasingly bib tenth "catch all" machine).

I guess I'll get to other things (opportunities, legacy) later.
