Yes, for sure. Mostly beer, wine and some cocktails. But not everyday. Maybe each second day.

Some 15 years back, I actually had various friends and extended friends to a "blind taste test", where I poured a shot of Kentucky Bourbon (Evan Williams), and a shot of Tennessee Bourbon (Jack Daniels), and asked my friends to rate what they thought was the better Bourbon.

Evan Williams (KY) beat Jack Daniels (TN) by a significant margin.... The cost of Jack is so high because of the "Brand Name" and not the quality of the content....

I suspect it has something to do with the Water....

Now, if we really want to get into the quality of Kentucky Bourbon, Maker's Mark certainly stands out as a relatively affordable and decent quality Bourbon, that tends to actually not be much more expensive than Jack.

So, Santander, do you have a recipe involving Kentucky Bourbon that you can post to the Forum, that is both high quality and affordable, to showcase your local knowledge, skills, and experience, which if I get the decent paying job at the Factory that I'm waiting to be finalized, will happily consume with my Wife, as part of a celebratory drink after the first paycheck kicks in?
Indeed, there is something to do with the water! To my understanding, the only other places in the world with the same type of limestone geology as Kentucky are Scotland and Ireland, which are obviously both whiskey powerhouses.

I don't mix bourbon too often, but bonded bourbon is a nice little "secret" that isn't very popular outside of Kentucky. It's made to government-specified standards and aged in bonded warehouses subject to federal government inspection. It's strong (100 proof) and higher quality than anything else you will find in the same price range. My favorite is Very Old Barton, which you can get for about $15 in Kentucky, but both Jim Beam and Evan Williams have bonded versions you can buy in any state - just look for "Bottled in Bond" on the label. Any of those will elevate any mixed drink.

Certain American Catholic circles probably consider that a legitimate question these days. Tongue

At this point, on some issues probably not.

Yes. It's easier to do so over here since we seem to have better access to high quality booze than you guys over the pond.

Never. Only beer and wine, and sometimes Jägerbombs.

Sometimes I eat it too. Wink

I only have sweets about once or maybe twice a week. I rarely eat dessert, and most of my snacks tend to be chips or crackers (perhaps with cheese).

There are exceptions such as tonight. I made a simple soup with chicken broth, fine noodles, scallions, and parley and thyme from the garden. We had bread and wine with the soup, but there was room for more later. So I took some pineapple we had chopped fresh a few days ago, added a couple shots of rum, a dash a fresh squeezed lemon, and a topping of dark brown sugar. Does that count as sweets?
