I'm watching "The World According to Dick Cheney" and this thought just came to me.  Since the job of the president really comes down to making decisions based on options other people are giving him.  The president has little personal involvement in managing the functions of government or setting actual policy.  Therefore, the argument can be made that people should be more weary of the people the president appoints than the president himself, who is a mere yesman to the people he is told will do the best job in their respective positions, most of whom very likely have very different interests in mind than the president did.  This is largely why most presidents are able to deliver on a third of what they promised voters at best.

I'm not sure in general, but with this president, definitely.

Agreed. Especially with awesome advisors and lackeys such as Racist Bannon, Slimy Ryan, and Turtle McConnell.
