I dont know about yall, but I freaked out a little when I heard local police trapped a suspect in a parking lot and then sent in a (robot) suicide bomber. Even evil terrorists like Tim McVeigh deserve a day in court. For the sake of due process, I think it would be unconscionable to allow this practice to continue. I mean, if you can send in a bomb, why not just send in a flash bang or knockout gas or you know, wait more than a few hours before you basically execute a suspect who does nor have hostages? This law should have no budgetary impact.

This was Dallas Police for the guy that shot all of the cops, sometimes it's just too dangerous and this is needed, tbh.

Personally, I'm a little cautious with this.  This was a specific situation.  While such a practice should not be commonplace, it shouldn't be banned.

Ooooh fun. Divided opinions. Can either side think of a compromise?

What about leaving either the governor or the sheriff (leaning towards the latter) to make the final call if there is no other viable option?

I could support an amendment to that effect (especially over this just  straight up failing). At least then there is some singular executive oversight. I'll work on some compromise language. Thanks for the idea.

Amended language in bold. The amendment gives the governor the power to make the call. Alternatively, the local sheriff may make the call, provided they attempt to contact the governor first, the governor is unavailable, and the sheriff thinks that imminent loss of life is certain if they wait until the governor is available.
