I think he runs in 2000 and wins Alaska, Delaware, Virginia, Washington, Maine, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. With Kasich running the fiscally conservative campaign, he tears into George W. Bush's base of Gingrich-minded fiscal conservatives. McCain wins the nomination, and his economic platform lessens the effects of the 2008 recession. The Frist-Roemer 2007 compromises, which were also helped by Senators Baucus and Wyden, allow for the balanced budget to be neutralized as a recession appears. With tax cuts on the middle and lower classes and the introduction of the basic income proposal, the recession is lessened. Obama/Bayh defeats Watts/Giuliani by a fair margin. Obama is re-elected over Senator Santorum in 2012 by a larger margin. However, in 2016, Treasury Secretary Elizabeth Warren, who narrowly won the primaries over Senator Ed Case, and Texas Senator Lloyd Doggett are beaten by Governor Kasich and California Senator/former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
2001-2003: John McCain*/George Pataki 2003-2009: George Pataki**/J. C. Watts 2009-2017: Barack Obama***/Evan Bayh 2017-: John Kasich****/Condoleezza Rice
*Injured September 11 by a lone gunman who split from the hijackers to get him, McCain is almost one of the 4,000+ casualties that day. He manages to hold on for 1.5 years before he gets a bad case of influenza, and his wound starts acting up again. He resigns the Presidency. **Vice President Pataki manages to keep a balanced budget until 2007, when Speaker Doggett and Majority Leader Frist agree to a Keynesian plan of tax cuts and spending hikes, namely on infrastructure and a basic income proposal. With the built up surplus, this plan is managed for three budget years. ***Obama oversees the passing of the Obama-Snowe Act/the Health Insurance Care Reinstitution Act(HICRA)/ObamaCare. Without the cooperation of Speaker Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Durbin, the budget still has a deficit in 2016. The infrastructure bill of $400 billion manages to pass, as well. ****Kasich's accomplishment so far are the re-balancing of the budget and the passing of the Wyden-Voinovich Act/Reform and Universal Deal Health Care Replacement Act(RADHCRA). He currently plans to heighten the basic income and cut back most other entitlement/welfare programs.
