Senators have been breaking the Senate since the day it was founded.

He should just kill the filibuster already.  Then at least one good thing will have happened these four years.

Oh god, no. I don't want a minority faction ramming through anything without checks and balances.

Senators change the rules to give themselves more power. Killing the filibuster does the opposite.

In the age of hyperpartisanship when something being supported by your adversary is reason enough to oppose it, this sort of thing was only to be expected.  Of course, I don't see anything wrong with the Senate doing nothing, so that part of it is alright. Wink

He had a good run, but I think it's time for a fresh face.

Good. The Senate is a conservative institution, leftists should welcome its destruction. Thanks Mitch.

In fairness, McConnell's merely led the charge of damn near every other Republican senator in the last 10 years to completely screwed over long long held Senate traditions, first by making the filibuster a dated a regular course of business rather than a nuclear option, and then by removing it entirely the minute they took power. Everything that is being described McConnell in the op could be used to describe pretty much the entire GOP caucus from 2009 onwards.
