Clinton by the GOP. Although they'll say otherwise, Republicans can't stand the idea of a strong woman running for president.

Sorry, but that is rediculous. Anyway, I think they were both hated equally by the opposition. Lots of democrats decided to vote for Hillary because they despited Trump, even if they didn't like Clinton. The same can be said for Trump voters.

If we're talking really genuine and intense hatred, I have to concede that it's gotta be Trump. But that's only because genuine, thinking people who are being objective could pretty much use any negative adjective to describe him and have it be accurate.

The candidate who had calls for their imprisonment at the opposing convention.

Did no Democrats call for Trump's imprisonment?

No, the constant whisper campaign from millions of people was quite enough.

Trump was more intensely hated by the left, but Republicans took their hatred of Hillary a bit... further.

Didn't Republicans literally claim Hillary was in league with Satan?

Clinton, obviously. The GOP willingly propped up DONALD TRUMP if it meant she would never be president.

The woman who has been the target of countless smear campaigns over the past 30 years. From books to movies. The woman who was considered more dishonest than Trump, despite actually being the second most honest candidate in the 2016 field. The woman who had calls to "lock her up" at the opposing party convention.

Clinton by Republicans. Republicans have hated the Clintons since he 1990s and Hillary in particular. I was recently watching episodes of the 1980s-1990s sitcom Married... with Children and there were "Hillary is a bitch" jokes even back then.  The same goes for old clips of Norm Macdonald's Weekend Update on SNL. The "Hillary is a bitch" meme and conspiracy theories about the Clintons have been around for a long time.

I don't think there was as much outright hatred for Trump. Many people saw him as more of a clown than anything else, which is different from the intense hatred for Hillary that a lot of Republicans have.
