Not taking your own interpreter is a huge disadvantage.  This administration is such a bunch of screwups.

Tomorrow he'll tweet out the Slack chat between him, Putin, Medvedev, and Semion Mogilevich. After that we'll find out that Kim Jong-Un and Bashar Al-Assad also sat in on the meeting. Then he'll say it was all to talk about strategy defeating ISIL. Then when it turns out it was to discuss how to squash dissent and make blackmail payments, he'll blame Obama, then he'll say Hillary did it to make him look bad. Wink

The fine details of Trump and Russia are pretty much irrelevant at this point. Yeah, he's stupid and incompetent. Maybe he's trolling.

But he looks like a traitor, he acts like a traitor, and he's had ample time to come clean about anything shady in his past actions and instead he keeps lying and we keep finding more Russian connections. Dick Cheney liked to talk about how we had to act if there was a one-percent chance Al-Qaeda had a deliverable nuke or dirty bomb. Trump working against the interests of the United States and violating the law and his Oath of Office looks a whole lot more likely than that.

Everyone from the Cabinet on down needs to proceed forward with the presumption that Trump is a traitor to the United States and needs to be impeached. Anyone who declines to do so is themselves failing their oath and should be recalled and replaced.

Even after everything that has happened, he still can't stop looking shady. Any president with common sense would have never had a meeting alone with him just to avoid the perception it would bring. Instead, we have a pathological liar for president, who lacks even a modicum of common sense.

He probably sincerely believes that talking with him might help relations and it might help thaw them a little, but overall Putin is playing Trump to keep his IR options open.

News is reporting that if it is true that there was only trump, Putin and Putin's translator in the room, that this is a breach of national security protocols.
Is this true ?
What the hell was the orange-haired clown thinking !?

They weren't the only ones in the room. It was apparently at a large dinner table. But they were the only ones in the discussion.

Who cares? Can't the President pick up the phone and talk to anyone he wants?

Being serious. Good thing these liberals weren't so adamant during WW2 or every conversation about Manhattan and any conversation with Stalin and Churchill would have been leaked. We'd all be speaking German.

Funny thing is that when you're churning out this kind of sanctimonious bullsh**t you probably believe  what you're saying the moment you're saying it.

You mean various national leaders were circulating around the room having various conversations with one another, such as the conversation between Trump and Putin. In other words it was an entirely normal G20 meeting and there was no 'secret undisclosed' meeting with Trump. The lib media is so desperate to promote this this evidence free collusion delusion that they keep churning out these nothingburgers.

You'd think. However all the Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers care because they're constantly and obsessively  seeking validation for their collusion delusion

Roosevelt and Stalin both had interpreters present. Stalin didn't speak English. Also, there was a world war on and the papers knew that was not the sort of thing you would leak.

Putin doesn't speak English either, so the protocol is to have one interpreter each. That's even the case with someone like Angela Merkel, who can speak English.

You have trapped yourself in a lie. Putin is a skilled linguist, as he speaks German amazingly well, and his English is rather grand.

Was this the meeting where Trump asked Putin: "Do you have any dirt on the Democrats for me?"

(As Trump has repeatedly stated himself now in the past days and week, there's nothing wrong with getting negative info on your political opponents from foreign sources.)

Use of a telephone, telegraph, or the Internet in the commission of a crime (including conspiracy to commit a crime that does not happen) is itself a violation of federal law. People have been convicted of a use of a telephone in an illegal transaction (examples, threatening conversation and doing business as a bookmaker).

His kids also worked in the White House...not to mention the whole Korematsu thing. No big deal since he was a Democrat.

Now they are complaining about a common sense travel ban on some foreign Muslims?

It's funny to compare this with past Presidential comms as if Stalin intervened to help Roosevelt get elected, and then Roosevelt spent his time in office behaving like a compromised Soviet stooge while lying about his illegal contacts with Stalin during the campaign.
