Who, in your own party, do you want to loose re-election to the senate in 2006?

For me, it's Hillary Clinton and Bob Byrd.

Why would you want members of your party to lose re-election?

Are you hoping for permanent minority status?

Uh... Maybe it's because they are such terrible senators. I don't support people in my party just because they are in my party. I'm not a blind democrat. I think that the senate should only be made up of the best people our country has to offer. Byrd can leave the senate, for all I care, and go back crying to the Klan. And Hillary can go back running to Bill and, well, do whatever.... they..... would.... do.....

I don't want anyone to lose, simply because minority status blows.  But if I had to choose, it'd be Hillary Clinton.

You rock!  Smiley

Since I don't have a party, I'll have to go based upon my ideology.  With that said, Byrd is definitely on my list.  "Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) - KING OF PORK"

"They call me 'The Pork King,' they don't know how much I enjoy it." - Sen. Robert Byrd

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Hahahahaha!!! The pork king.... I could say something about that, but I won't. That's one of the reasons I hate Byrd, he's a racist and stupid, PLUS he wastes so much money. Cheesy

Byrd was in the KKK for a brief period 60 years ago. I don't hold it against him anymore since his views have changed.

Byrd may have done some questionable things in the past, but he is not stupid.  On matters of Constitutional law and Senate history and procedure, he is one of the intellectual heavyweights of the chamber.

I'm no racist, but let me ask you this:
If the only way to be respected and to get ahead politically in Nazi Germany is to join the Hitler Youth, would you do it?  Then think about Byrd's situation with the KKK.  That might have been why he joined in the first place.

The majority party sets the agenda. As long as the Republicans set the agenda, the country will go down the same destructive path.

The first order of business needs to be regaining the majority. Only then should you be purging members of your own party you don' t like.

To answer the question, if we were in the majority I would want to oust Lieberman first and foremost.

None. I like freedom, and don't want Democrats dismantling it like they did from 1993-1994.

Hey, I've heard Bob Byrd is only up like 15 or 18 in the last poll, which is down from his usual 50 or so. Smiley I don't mind Bob Byrd on your side, really, he's an old schooler and I think we need a little of old school, really, no matter what.

That said, I wouldn't really care if we lost "Linc" Chafee. I don't think he's an old school conservative like Olympia Snowe, I think Chafee just sides with the other party because he's afraid of losing his job and he was a Republican back when national level Republicanism wasn't associated with the south and GWB, especially with the GOP in control of everything.

None of course. There are a few that I would like to be replaced by someone more liberal, like Feinstein.

1. I'm Slovenian and Catholic, two groups Hitler hated.

2. No. I'd rather die than join Hitler.

I think "lose re-election" might be worded wrong.  I don't think he's wanting to lose the seat, just the person in the seat.  So, Feinstein would be a good example for you.  Smiley

Yup, Roman Catholic.  He was never excommunicated, though he did not receive a Catholic burrial.

Feinstein often sells out to corporate interests over the interests of working people.

I agree with JFern.

Feinstein voted for CAFTA. I'm not a big fan of Democrats who vote to outsource more American jobs overseas and south of the border.
