Do we know what the rationale was for excluding it in the first place? Furthermore, I surmise this is referring to dental services being rendered at VA hospitals, correct?

Dentistry has always been sort of a separate deal from other healthcare. Medicare doesn't cover dental, and neither does the ACA or most Medicaid plans. I don't think there was a "rationale" so much as an inertia that carried forward—no one else really covers dental, so why should the VA? I'd like to see those other programs modified as well, but I know Scott has some healthcare bill in the works and don't want to step on any toes before that happens.

Yes, it would be available through VA hospitals.

I will answer Sjoyce's question from May. Since I have showed it to most of the House members, AtlasCare does in fact cover dental, and it would inherit the realms of the VA and other military related healthcare programs.

Heating no objections, North Carolina Yankee is now sponsor of this bill.

This bill is a slam-dunk open and shut case to vote YES on.

I move for a final vote.

Like has been said this is a rather simple addition and will help pave the way for this to become a reality, sooner.

Like I said AtlasCare will cover dental, but it is not going to be implemented immediately and thus this brings help to our veterans six months sooner than would otherwise be the case.
