I thank the Senate for taking the time to consider this bill I originally introduced to the House, this bill is a very important step forward in helping to rebuild the infrastructure of Atlasia. Furthermore, I believe the single greatest threat to our national security is in fact natural disasters including disasters such as storm surge (from Hurricanes and Nor'Easters) and Tsunamis along the Pacific Coast. I made a long and evidence based case for this bill on page 1 of the House bill thread, I hope you will take the time to read it.

     Given the amount of damage that is done by hurricanes and other natural disasters, as well as the human and economic loss that they represent, this is necessary research to have happen.

     With that said, Section 4 strikes me as vague. I am guessing it refers to it being considered as a factor in research, but if that were the case then it should appear in the research-related sections. The alternative reading that came to mind was that we should consider changing the climate ourselves to protect against these events, which would be cool but dangerous.

Curious as to why before anything else

Natural disasters, a primary cause of which is climate change, are very damaging, destructive, and unfortunate events that can ruin people's lives and destroy their property. I believe that it is absolutely necessary to fund infrastructure and research in order to prevent such disasters from occurring. This bill has my complete support.

This is in regards to the research and how the walls and such are built. Otherwise if sea levels rise, the walls will be irrelevant if they are built at present storm surge levels.

     It seems in that case it should be a subsection to Section 3. I read it outside of that context, which is why it confused me.

I support this but I suggest we may want to include droughts in the list of natural disasters mentioned in the bill. As you all know, droughts have affected large parts of the USA in recent years so taking measures to prevent and mitigate droughts will certainly pay off.
