Sad

Linkin Park was one of the most-played bands during my school years.

Bullying and sexual abuse is awful. It wrecks you inside.

RIP.

Was never a big Linkin Park fan, but this is absolutely soul-crushing.

RIP.

Absolutely, truly awful. So many people have found comfort and reassurance through Linkin Park's music and inspired by Chester's moving, passionate voice. I'm listening to LP right now and it just brings back so many childhood memories, good and bad, and I realize how much they were a part of my life. It also makes me think of my dad who passed in December since we both liked LP. Certainly an emotional evening :/

I can't believe this is true.  Why do all the great talents seem to leave us early? Sigh.

I never really got into Linkin Park, but Chester had an amazing voice and seemed like a genuinely great person whose music helped many people. This is absolutely tragic, especially given the connections with Chris Cornell's suicide. Rest in peace.

Not a Linkin Park fan obviously, but also obviously pretty horrible. My girlfriend was a big fan of their early stuff back in the day and took this pretty hard.

Incidentally since I learned he had taken over as the vocalist of Stone Temple Pilots, this reminded me that Scott Weiland died in 2015 of a drug OD as well. So that, along with Chris Cornell's suicide earlier this year, and Layne Stanley's OD death and of course Kurt Cobain, means that of the main grunge bands, the only one that didn't have the vocalist die early is Pearl Jam.

To quote a friend that I was just speaking to about all this: "Yeah, they were most definitely a phase for me, but not one I particularly regret."

Linkin Park was one of my favorite bands back a decade ago,  and while I grew out of 'em quickly, the news did hit me quite a bit harder than I would have expected.

have to say, it took him an impressively long time to break

rip. he certainly didn't tickle my ears very much but through learning about his past, well, this is all pretty terrible.

Hybrid Theory was the peak of the band.

I guess he looked at what they had done to the band after about 2010 (turning it into standard, emo crap) and just couldn't live with himself.

Yeah, cause that's totally why a survivor of childhood sexual assault would kill themselves.

Also Hybrid Theory was ironically the closest the bad got to actual emo or post-hardcore

To draw a line from Linkin Park to the content of this site:
Can you name three U.S. states where they have never given a concert?

Linkin Park is not Grunge.  You should know that.

Ah, shucks. I know plenty of bands that play Hawaii so it's odd that they've never played there. Vermont as well.

Hawaii and Alaska is probably way too expensive to fly there, and Vermont may even not have a concert hall. Tongue
