Trump controls the FBI now, this is just a smear operation against Bernie Sanders because Trump and his corporate buddies know that Bernie is his most dangerous threat to winning reelection and their interests. I would advise Bernie to act like how Trump himself would if he's in that situation by saying it like how it is so that his supporters will rally around him rather than abandon him.

I cannot imagine how this sort of thing would survive a lawsuit. Yikes. I tend to be more in favor of Israel than its neighbors and I've never liked the BDS movement, but stories like this make me think there really is an issue with the influence of the Israel lobby if we've reached this point.

This does confirm that Gillibrand is probably my least favorite of the possible democratic candidates in 2020, however.

Sec. 999 of the Internal Revenue Code already exists (and has always seemed of dubious constitutionality to me). Seems like this is not much of an extension. Prosecution for a felony is worse that just some tax penalties, to be sure, but the principle is the same.
