Not a single one of them is good. And frankly, Trump's support is more resilient than is appreciated. Don't let his poll #'s fool you.

What's D.A.E?

Anyway, the whole GOP slate sucked the last two times, couldn't even get the popular vote despite all the hype and media showering.

No point in worrying too much until 2018 midterms finish.

I like Biden, Harris, Sanders, Warren, Klobuchar, etc.

I think the only one I don't like is Booker and I'm wishy washy on Cuomo.

Biden
- Too old
- Only gets away with his role in the 1994 crime bill, Iraq war vote, and bankruptcy bill b/c he's a man

Harris
- Didn't prosecute Mnuchin's bank
- Literally zero substance and 1000% hype. No 10,000% hype

Sanders
- Too old
- His popularity is eroding, FBI investigation, plus after he endorsed Hillary he's just another pol now

Warren
- Way too partisan, lowers herself to name calling
- Sucky pro-establishment foreign policy

Klobuchar
- Sponsored some very sh**tty internet bill
- Very sucky hawkish Clintonite foreign policy won't fly
- Zero charisma

Booker
- Actually good, but everyone seems to hate him

Cuomo
- Standard establishment politician
- Too connected with the corrupt Albany machine

I don't think Booker is that great. Literally can't think of anything he's done or any signature politics.  Apart from some vague "positivity politics" schtick. But I don't get the impression that everyone hates him, he's really popular on social media. Of course he's hated amongst progressives but centrist/ moderates probably likes him.

Biden, Harris, Sanders, Brown... I think we have a large bench but a good group of candidates we can select from. The GOP's 2016 was large but horrendous and weak.

Bernie is pretty good. But most of the Neera Tanden approved candidates are terrible.

Jesus I agree with all of these, and I'm basically Booker's biggest/sole hype-man on this forum. I'd add Gillibrand, who 1. voted to deregulate swaps 2. is legitimately a flip-flopper (or someone whose politics changes in accordance with her district's needs).

Though I think most users of this forum probably spend more time on Twitter, which is why a lot of liberal/center-left candidates appear worse than they actually are. Like Cuomo has huge issues but he's insanely popular in upstate NY, Harris actually has a good record at getting massive settlements from banks post-financial crisis, Warren's academic record (as a professor) is actually genuinely impressive, etc. But the general coverage that most political junkies have been exposed to is probably quite negative.

I never go on my twitter. I just formulate my views based on how I feel about the candidates when they speak. There was always a pretty big part of me that liked Trump's style of speaking and his constant bucking of GOP orthodoxy in random statements. I was always worried that he'd be a pretty formidable opponent in the presidential election last year since he had that kind of style even though his campaign was poorly ran and the whole pussygate debacle momentarily derailed him.

I like Biden, Sanders, and Harris the most in terms of how they speak. Warren is good but not quite on the same level.I haven't watched much of Cuomo to comment. Klobuchar is about as exciting as a wet carrot. Booker irritates me more than every other candidate.

Too early to really be sizing up potential candidates, and some of the potential candidates actually seem decent.

One plausible candidate that hardly ever gets mentioned is Jay Inslee. Made a name for himself in opposition to the first travel ban, and has experience in both congress and as a governor. Doesn't appear to have any baggage, but who knows what could come up in a campaign.

It's pretty much impossible to hate Booker after watching "Street Fight." Everyone needs to go to Netflix and watch it ASAP.

I agree with you to a degree, I don't think the people that most people tout (Bernie, Harris, Gillibrand, Cuomo, Klobuchar) are electable or particularly inspiring. I actually do think Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden could have a better shot, but even then they're both tainted by ideological baggage and age.

I think there could be several candidates that are interesting but are considered 2nd tier - people like Seth Moulton could be best in my opinion, but I don't think he'll run if Warren runs.
